Originally, I have an Organic Chemistry/ PharmacoChemistry background. Later I moved into broader LifeSciences and Biologicals areas. I have long career in the LifeScience and Animal Health industry, such as my former membership of the executive committee at Merck AH. Merck AH is the animal health division of Merck Inc. with about 3.5 B€ annual sales and a global presence in companion animals as well as food animals.

I have had Executive roles in a global top 3 Animal Health company (MSD AH and it’s predecessors). My areas of expertise lie in Antibiotics, Regulatory Affairs, Manufacturing, Vaccine R&D and M&A projects.

At NovioCap, I am interested in supporting individuals and teams to help transfer innovative ideas into products on the market. With my experience in executive roles, I support in business plan formation and execution.

My background lies in solid state physics and inorganic chemistry. Early in my career I became an entrepreneur. I started companies in differents fields such as integrated circuits, medical devices and biomaterials.

I have executive experience in medical device manufactoring and a lot of experience in bringing ideas to the market by scouting opportunities. I like to work with highly motivated people. In my work, I am especially interested in new, innovative ideas that will positively influence the world.

I retired as vice president of the regional Court of Gelderland. Nevertheless, I am still working as a counselor specialized in civil law. In the field of dispute resolution, I have experience as chairman of the Disciplinary Courts of public/private partnership organisations, as well as chairman of various Arbitration Committees. At NovioCap, I operate as an advisor in strategic and legal matters.

Cartesian Optics

Cartesian Optics (CO) develops lenses with superior image quality. Inspired by the work of Descartes in the 17th-century, CO implements a innovative way of calculating lenses. The form of the CO lenses can be found in one of the wonders of nature: the eye.

The first application of the new lens calculation are in the multifocal glasses market. Typically, a multifocal lens is design leads to some distortion of your side vision. This can cause blurry vision and even leads to falling when walking down the stairs. CO multifocal glasses do not excibit this disadvantage and gives a perectly clear view through the whole glass.

NovioScan is founded in 2014 and holds its office at the NovioTech Campus in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. The development of wearable ultrasound SENS-U innovation was a result of technical innovation combined with the clinical need to help children who do not sense their bladder. The SENS-U innovation is a wearable ultrasound sensor that measures the level in the bladder. After 4 years of development Novioscan launched the SENS-U KIDS in 2018 and made it available for the treatment of children in the age of 6-12 years.

NovioScan is acquired by Essity in April 2020. Essity is the leading global player in incontinence products with the TENA brand. The SENS-U technology is an innovative solution that will strengthen Essity’s offering in incontinence care and give consumers an opportunity to live a healthier and more active life

NovioSense’s flexible, spring-shaped coil drops in behind the lower eyelid—something users can do themselves—and naturally stays put. The spring-shaped electrodes are coated in a biopolymer containing an immobilized enzyme that, when exposed to glucose, starts a chemical reaction. That reaction results in the oxidation of hydrogen peroxide, which can be detected by the electrodes using a chronoamperometric measurement.
